DESIGN GUIDE & MARKINGS

Bioluminescent

Alleles:

Rarity: Rare

Bioluminescent creates small, glowing spots all over the body.

Rules

  • Bioluminescent can use any color!
  • It is comprised of a hard-edged lower layer, with a blurred, brighter layer above.
    • Use blend modes like Addition or Screen for the top layer to achieve a glowing appearance.

Non-Dominant

  • It may freely include a slight lighter to darker gradient, without shifting hue.
  • Comprised of matching simple shapes, not larger than the largest wing pad.
  • Simple shapes includes:
    • Natural geometric shapes
    • Stars with round edges
    • Spots - these can be arranged to make a flower effect
    • Etc., without being overly complex or perfectly even.

Dominant

  • Can make one hard-edged marking glow or create its own marking with simple shapes, allowing some mix-and-match (e.g., dots and dashes for a constellation effect).
  • Gains the ability to gradient between two similar colors (e.g., orange to red, but not orange to green).

Bicolor Interaction

  • When Bicolor is applied to Bioluminescent, it can add a second color to non-dominant, or a third to dominant, ignoring the similar hue rule!

Effects on Free Areas and Traits

  • Horns or claws cannot completely glow, but may have glowing spots and be saturated.
  • Eyes and mouth can glow, but must be submitted as an alternate file in the description rather than on the main import.
