DESIGN GUIDE & MARKINGS
Harlequin
Alleles:Rarity: Rare
Harlequin is a powerful marking that creates a chimerism affect, as well as placing multicolored diamonds.
Rules
Diamonds
- A minimum spot on the head is required only if eyespots aren't placed elsewhere; some spots must show without necessarily filling the forehead space.
- If appearing as one solid colored layer, they should be very clearly diamond-shaped spots to avoid confusion with Bubbles.
- The diamonds may use up to three layers, with only the bottom layer required to be darker than the genetic base.
- The other two layers, if they show, can be either lighter or darker than, or match to create the appearance of hollow diamonds.
Body Patches
- Mimic chimerism with controlled placement; patches must alternate, not match across both sides of a symmetrical body part.
- For example, if a patch covers the left paw, it cannot also cover the right paw!
- In this case, it would be recommended for the other patch to cover the right winghand.
- Chimerism patches allow for selective marking display only on patches, applicable in both non-dominant and dominant forms.
- When split directly down the middle, patches can create a second base coat effect, allowing for varied coloration of free & genetic markings and manes/cheeks, adhering to their specific rules.
- Markings that are lighter or darker than the genetic basecoat on one side must match, and be lighter or darker than the Harlequin basecoat on the opposite side.
Dominant
- In this form, it can disregard color rules, specifically on the Harlequin basecoat patches!
- i.e., a marking that displays as Darker Than the genetic basecoat could show as Lighter Than the Harlequin basecoat where they overlap - see the Dominant Example below!

Note! For Harlequin, you can choose to display both the chimerism patches and the diamonds, or pick one or the other to show! If going this route, the chimerism should follow the below, picking alternating wing hands and/or paws.
